The Department of Aviation and Supply Chain Management has three programs housed in the department.  Students of our department can graduate with professional concentrations in Supply Chain Management, Aviation Management, and/or Flight Management.

Supply Chain Management Program

Students of Auburn’s College of Business have the opportunity to pursue a major in supply chain management.  Auburn has been teaching supply chain topics including transportation, logistics, and operations management for many years.  In our continued quest for excellence and our desire to offer educational opportunities aligned with industry, the College of Business recently merged the Logistics and Operations Management programs together, updated the curriculum, and is now offering a Supply Chain Management major. 

  

Supply Chain Management students graduate with a knowledge of how to manage supply chain operations and develop strategies for continuous improvement of the performance of a supply chain.  Students of this program have expertise in supply and inventory management, quality and manufacturing issues, as well as transportation and related logistics practices.  Past students have found employment with companies such as Wal-mart, Target, Georgia-Pacific, Honda, Hyundai, CocaCola, UPS, Home Depot, 3M, and many others.

Aviation Education Programs

Auburn University has been actively involved in aviation education since 1941, and has consistently been a leader in aviation education and research.  Auburn’s aviation programs are accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI), the agency responsible for academic accreditation of aviation and aerospace educational programs.   

Auburn has Aviation Management students graduate with knowledge of the aviation industry and an understanding of how to make an immediate contribution to companies participating in a variety of aviation related fields.  These students understand the operational aspects of the aviation industry and have recently found employment working in a variety of fields including business aviation, government/ municipal aviation, airport management, and passenger air carriers such as Continental Express and Atlantic Southeast Airlines.      

Flight Management students graduate with a working knowledge of the aviation industry and a focus on serving as an aircraft pilot.  Students graduating from this program have a variety of pilot ratings and enter the job market prepared to seek employment as a pilot in the aviation industry.  Students with this degree can go to work in commercial aviation for a company like Continental Express or seek employment as a pilot in the corporate aviation field.

Our Aviation Management-Professional Flight program uses single-engine and light twin-engine aircraft and an advanced flight simulation laboratory to allow students to earn various pilot certificates and ratings. Auburn University owns and operates the Auburn/Opelika Robert G. Pitts Airport.  The airport utilizes two paved and lighted runways which are capable of handling all general aviation aircraft and most corporate aircraft and light jets.
