Welcome to the Department of Management

The Department of Management at Auburn University encompasses a breadth of teaching and research in areas such as organizational behavior, human resources, strategy, entrepreneurship, management information systems, including information risk assurance, and statistics for undergraduates and graduate students alike.  The Management Department houses five academic majors, Management, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Information Systems Management and Entrepreneurship and Small Business at the undergraduate level.  We offer one Masters degree program in Information Systems Management and are home to the only Ph.D. program in the College of Business.

The Management Department is staffed by nationally and internationally known scholars and has eight endowed professorships or eminent scholars, and one Fulbright scholar.  Our faculty is dedicated to academic excellence in the classroom.  Two of our faculty members are the 2007 recipients of the McCartney and Colonial Bank teaching awards.  This is the third time in the last three years that faculty of Management professors have received these coveted college-wide awards.  Departmental faculty members have also been prominent winners of the College of Business Research award and have actively participated in federally-sponsored grants.

As a faculty, we recognize the need for a well rounded education.  In today’s global environment, we find it essential to make international management a part of all of our curricula.  In addition, for the past 11 years, the Department sponsors a Central European Studies program every summer.  Thus far, well over 200 students have spent part of their summer in the Czech Republic.  Present plans are to expand this program into other countries.  Other international trips previously sponsored by the Management Department are the European Perspectives program and the Jamaican Studies program.

Graduates of the Management Department have gone on to careers with KPMG, Ernst & Young, DAXKO, Briggs and Stratton, IBM, FBI, Bridgestone-Firestone, Frito-Lay, BMW, Briggs and Stratton, Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, ORACLE, Cintas, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, Acuity Brands, ALFA, Accenture, Russell Corporation, Southern Company, to name just a few of the nationally/globally recognized companies.
