Human Resource Management (HRMN) is the specialized field in management devoted to strategies and techniques for the effective utilization of people.  The field of HRMN deals with human resource planning, the recruitment and selection of employees, training and development, performance appraisal, compensation and benefits and employee/labor relations.

As an HRMN major, you will be instructed in the use of contemporary methods related to recruiting, selection, training and career development, performance appraisal, compensation and promotion systems, and other policy areas related to effective utilization of human resources.

Most HR jobs rely on a wide range of skills.  To excel in this field you’ll need an understanding of the unique needs of each business specialization as well as an ability to comprehend the larger strategic mission of the business. Entry-level job opportunities exist in all businesses and industries for those interested in HRMN, whether in specialized positions or general management.
