Professional Activities:
Mr. Dattel has published in Human Factors and the International Journal of Aviation Psychology. He has reviewed for the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied and the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society conferences. He has presented at the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, the International Ergonomics Association, AeroSpace Medical Association, and the International Symposium of Aviation Psychology meetings. His teaching experience includes Human Factors and Aviation Accident Causes and Investigation. Mr. Dattel’s research interests are situation awareness, training and selection of pilots and air traffic controllers, expertise in aviation, human error, and fatigue. Mr. Dattel is a commercial pilot and a certified flight instructor (instrument, multi-engine). Mr. Dattel, has worked as a research associate for the Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration. Before entering academia, Mr. Dattel owned and operated a flight school for several years in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Mr. Dattel is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, AeroSpace Medical Association, American Psychological Association: Division 21, and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
