Professional Activities:
Dr. Brandon has published in Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, the Journal of Accountancy, Strategic Finance, and The CPA Journal. His current research focuses on auditor independence, legal liability, and the practical uses of technology in the audit. Dr. Brandon teaches in both the graduate and undergraduate programs including: Advanced Assurance & Auditing; Control, Audit and Assurance of Accounting Information; and Principles of Financial Accounting. He also taught several courses as a graduate teaching assistant at Virginia Tech including: Auditing I & II, Survey of Accounting, Introduction to Business Information Systems, and Principles of Accounting I (Financial) and II (Managerial). While at Virginia Tech he was recognized as Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant in 2000 and 2001. Prior to returning to graduate school, he was on the audit staff at Witt, Mares & Company. He is currently an active member of the American Accounting Association and an associate member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
