Professional Activities:
Professor Byrd's research focuses on the impact of information technology at all levels of organizations, that is, at the individual, group, organizational, inter-organizational, and societal levels. More specifically, he studies how information technology acts in facilitating a variety of organizational and societal behaviors and initiatives involved with the planning, management, usage, diffusion, and infusion of the technology. He has published more than 40 articles in the top journals such as MIS Quarterly, Decision Sciences, Journal of MIS, and Communications of the ACM. He serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Organizational and End User Computing. Dr. Byrd was selected as a McKnight Research Fellow when he was on the faculty at Florida State University. He has been involved and worked on grants totaling over $500,000. He was recognized as Researcher of the Year in the College of Business at Auburn University in 2002. Dr. Byrd teaches electronic commerce, programming, and IT strategy to undergraduate and graduate students. He also teaches seminars in IT research for doctoral candidates. He has taught in executive education and also consulted with several regional companies.
