Professional Activities:
Professor Giles' primary research interests are the area of performance appraisal, with secondary interests in training and selection. His research has been published in journals such as Journal of Applied Psychology, Academy of Management Journal , and Personnel Psychology. Dr. Giles has had papers published in the proceedings of various regional and national professional meetings. Before pursuing his PhD, Giles worked as an Industrial Relations Representative in the corporate office of Vulcan Materials Company. His responsibilities were primarily in the recruiting and selection functions. Dr. Giles teaches Human Resource Management (undergraduate), Human Resource Planning, Development, and Appraisal (undergraduate and masters), and Appraisal and Development of Human Resources (doctoral). He also conducts the internship program for Human Resource Management majors. Dr. Giles has received teaching awards from the Department of Management, College of Business, Student Government Association, and Panhellenic Council.
