Professional Activities:
Dr. Hamilton's current program of research focuses on attitude strength and personality attributes of professional aircrews. Specific areas include the study of attitude formation and change processes and factors associated with attitude persistence and resistance. Related research interests include personality variables in pilot attitude-behavior consistency, attitude-judgment relationships, and time-critical decision making. The former Dean of Faculty of the US Air Force's Air War College, Dr. Hamilton has served on the editorial board of the Airpower Journal. He has published in the Annals of the Association of American Geographers, the Proceedings of the Arctic Institute of North America, and the International Journal of Applied Aviation Studies. A USAF command pilot with over 5000 flying hours including 300 combat hours, he holds an FAA airline transport pilot rating and a turbojet flight engineer rating. Dr. Hamilton's current teaching assignments include aviation meteorology, advanced aerodynamics for pilots, international airline operations, and business aviation management. His professional memberships consist of the Association of American Geographers, the American Political Science Association, the University Aviation Association, the Council of Aviation Accreditation, and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
