Professional Activities:
Dr. Hanna's practical business experience includes extensive background in performing transportation supplier selection/evaluation, cost/price analysis, negotiation with third-party logistics providers, and auditing supplier contracts. Prior to working in the purchasing area, Dr. Hanna worked in transportation accounting where he dealt with transportation freight rates, negotiations with carriers, updating and maintaining computer freight rate data bases, scheduling/routing optimization, and participating in transportation strategy and logistics optimization planning. Dr. Hanna has served a variety of companies as either a paid consultant or an independent, non-paid advisor. He has served in these capacities for companies like Maersk-Sealand, Inc., John Deere, Menlo Logistics, Exel Logistics, Philips Electronics, General Electric Power Systems and others. Hanna is a respected academic researcher, having won the 'Best Researcher in the College' award twice, once while at Auburn University and once at a previous university. He has published over thirty articles in such respected journals as Journal of Business Logistics, Transportation Journal, International Journal of Logistics Management, Industrial Marketing Management and others. Dr. Hanna is also a respected teacher, having won both the 'McCartney Best Teacher in the College' and the 'Best Teacher in the Department' awards while at Auburn University. These awards have been obtained while teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate programs of the College of Business, as well as serving as an instructor for the Executive MBA.
