Professional Activities:
Dr. Jones joined Auburn University in 1997 after completing his PhD at Florida State University. His research interests include the usefulness and quality of accounting information, the use of fair value in accounting measurements, and accounting education. He has published articles in Advances in Accounting, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Issues in Accounting Education, the Journal of Accounting and Finance Research , the International Journal of Forecasting, the CPA Journal, the Journal of Corporate Accounting and Finance, and the Ohio CPA Journal. His research has been presented at both annual and regional meetings of various professional associations including the American Accounting Association and the American Academy of Accounting and Finance. His research efforts have earned him recognition through receipt of the College of Business Outstanding Researcher Award. Dr. Jones currently teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in financial accounting and applied professional research. He has received the College of Business McCartney Teaching Award, the School of Accountancy Outstanding Teacher Award, and the Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Honorary Outstanding Teacher Award (twice). He is currently a coauthor of the textbook, Intermediate Accounting, 10e published by South-Western. Dr. Jones is a CPA and a member of the AICPA and the AAA. Prior to coming to Auburn, Dr. Jones worked with the accounting firm of Deloitte and Touche.
