Professional Activities:
Professor Ripley has been published in the Collegiate Aviation Review, International Journal of Applied Aviation Studies and the Journal of Avionics Education, among others. He also has had book chapters published in each edition of the Handbook of Airline Economics as well as in the recently published Tapping Diverse Talent in Aviation. He has also published in a variety of other professional and popular outlets. Additionally, he is a reviewer for the Journal of Air Transportation and the International Journal of Applied Aviation Studies. He has also made numerous invited presentations in the areas of International Aviation Law, Aviation Human Factors and Pilot Selection and Training in North America as well as Europe.
Professor Ripley's teaching and research has primarily been in the areas of Aviation Law, Aviation Human Factors and Airline Operations as well as Pilot Selection and Training. He has also received the Aviation Management Professor of the Year Award.
Professor Ripley has an extensive aviation background that includes general aviation, regional and major airline experience. He is also a rated Airline Transport Pilot and Flight Instructor with over 7,000 hours of flight time. Additionally, he is an active member of the UAA and AIAA where he serves on several technical committees. He is also a member of the Alabama State Bar and has an aviation and general law practice.
