Job Search Skills

We're here to help with your search for a job, your resume development, and your interview skills. Below are a few ideas to get you started. We encourage you to come into the OPCD to take advantage of our full range of services.

Your job search

Your search for a job begins right here at the OPCD. To get started, you'll need an effective resume. Come in to our office, and we'll help you create one. We'll check it out, approve it, and make it available on Auburn’s Tiger Recruiting Link where employers are searching for Auburn students. Because we want you to present yourself in the best light possible, resumes will not appear on this service until they've been approved by our office. If you'd like a jump start before you come in to visit, here are our resume guidelines. Take a look at a couple of online job posting boards just to see what’s out there.

Target Employers

We'll match jobs to your strengths and needs, such as location or industry. We'll then identify the firms that want you. To get an idea of what these companies are like to work with, attend Industry Weeks and employer panels.

If you watch our Calendar of Events, you’ll see that we regularly host several Career Expos each semester. These Expos are an opportunity to interact with a variety of employers in a single session.

Market Yourself

Okay, you’ve found the company and the job.  Your resume and cover letter scored you an interview.  Don’t walk in unprepared.  Mock interviews are the best way to get primed for the real thing.  Once again, we can help.  Send us your resume, cover letter and the job description set up an interview with us.  We’ll make sure you’re polished and professional, and have researched the company so you'll be able to give great answers to their most pressing questions.
