2010 Central and Eastern European Studies Program
|
Dates:
May 13 - May 19 (in Auburn)
May 28 - June 19 (in Europe)
|
About:
The 2010 Central and Eastern European Studies Program provides the opportunity to study strategic management in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania with an AU faculty member. Strategic management concepts will come to life through company visits and candid discussions with business leaders in small group settings. Students will meet upper-level managers at the helm of local and multinational businesses who have led their organizations through the challenges associated with their country’s transition to a market economy and EU integration. Students will also meet government officials responsible for public policy.
Students will have free time for individual exploration of Tallinn, Riga, and Vilnius and the cities’ rich cultural and entertainment offerings. Students also may travel, at their own expense, prior to or at the conclusion of the program.

What Past Students Say:
The CEESP was my first out-of-America experience, and I am so glad I was a part of it! Eye-opener is an understatement for this trip! I cannot believe how much I learned through class activities and out-of-class adventures! I managed myself on a foreign time schedule, navigated my way through new cities, and learned how to communicate with people outside my own culture! If I had the opportunity to go on the CEESP trip again, I would in a heartbeat!
Whitney Barnwell – CEESP 09
This program was a great way to cap off my college experience. It was a great opportunity to see beautiful countries that I probably would not have visited otherwise. The principles taught in the course were reiterated and ingrained during the company visits.
Kate Luce – CEESP 09
The Study Abroad program in Central and Eastern Europe was the best thing I did during my college career
Karen Jordan – CEESP 09
CEESP was a class unlike anything I could have imagined. Visiting three countries vastly different from our own, speaking with CEOs and regional company executives of successful Baltic and global corporations, and spending three weeks with fellow Auburn students amidst such different places and cultures resulted in an incredibly informative experience that was an absolute blast too!
Brandon Bodie- CEESP 09
The CEESP is a great way to attain real-world knowledge about business management in an engaging environment that cannot be duplicated in a classroom.
Jeffrey Siegel – CEESP 09

Cost:
The cost of the program is $5,850 plus the AU Study abroad fee ($540). The cost covers tuition, lodging, breakfast, transportation among Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and field trips. Transportation to and from Europe, optional non-program travel, personal expenses, and most meals are the responsibility of the student.
The CEESP is surprisingly affordable. For a student that is classified as an out-of-state student, the incremental cost is only $700. The costs associated with CEESP total $7,890 (Program fee $5,850, AU Abroad Fee $540, Estimated Air Fare $1,500). The tuition and fees associated with studying on campus in the summer for an out-of-state student (assuming six hours) would be $7,200. If you happen to have frequent flier miles, the costs could be even less!
Deposits, Payments and Deadlines:
A non-refundable deposit of $850 is required with application. Four payments of $1,250 will be billed via the Bursar’s Office and will be due on 1/8, 2/5, 3/5 and 4/2/2010. All payments will be made via the student’s Bursar Bill.
Scholarships:
Four partial scholarships of $4000 are available. The deadline for application is November 1, 2009. Click here for a scholarship application. Contact Dr. Shook for details.
